It shouldn't take longer..actually for me (when my whole process took more than 600 days) after NOA2, the rest of the process went smooth and fast. Good luck!

Wow do you know what caused them to wait that long for the rfe??

We made several inquiries and the answer was the security check! But I have no idea why they needed a year and a half for the security check to be cleared :(

Hello Sona,

Would you please tell me how long it took the NVC to send your case to your hometown after they received it?

Thank you

Hello, my case reached NVC on 23 January, and sent to my embassy on 24 January, on 29th I was contacted by the embassy.

It took us about 3 weeks for the case to reach the embassy. You can start preparing all the docs you will need till it gets to the embassy. But yes. You can wait till the embassy sends you the invitation. After you get the invitation, you can schedule your medical examination and fill the DS-160 form. After filling the form you must pay the fee and schedule your interview date.

The consulate receive the case today finally, but i'm a bit confused as I see on some timelines packet 3 and packet 4. What are those exactly? and will my fiancé receive them? If yes how long it takes for the consulates to send them?

I also have no idea what it means..after the embassy got my case, I received an invitation letter (packet 3 I guess) Then after medical and interview I got another packet (packet 4 I guess) with a sealed envelope I need to bring to POE and my passport with visa. I guess that's it. And the whole process after embassy got my case took about a month. Embassy received my case January 19 and my interview was at February 22

But how long did it take for you to receive the invitation letter?

I got the call from the embassy the same they received my case. And after a couple of hours I got the email with the invitation letter. But I have a friend that got the letter in a week or so after the case reached the embassy.  Anyway it won't take long. Your are almost there!

We had our interview on March 21, 2018 and it was the fastest part of the whole process. Our interview was scheduled at 7am in Bangkok, we arrived at 6am and there was already about 50 people in line. My fiance was nervous about all the people and how strict they are (no photos in front of the embassy, they have special cameras that see if you did ). Once it got close to the opening of the embassy, we were pulled out of the line (again she was a bit worried) and moved to create a new line and we were put first in front of other K1 visa applicants. My feeling was because i was in line with her and im american she got moved to the front of the line. No other K1 applicant in the new line had an american with them. We cant go inside with them, we have to wait down the street at a coffee shop or cafe. I waited for her to go in and i walked down and waited. About 830am I got a text from my fiance and she was done. I got scared at that point :-) she said she was approved and would tell me all about it.

She said once inside, she waited in a lobby and had all of her papers ready and photos and was practicing the questions in her head and she was super nervous. A man called her up to the window, asked her to raise her hand and swear that all the information in the application was true. She raised her hand and swore, he handed her a paper and said congrats you are approved. No questions no looking at all her hard  work on her proof of relationship. She asked if he needed to see any of it, he said no she was basically pre-aproved from how well our application was and the proof i had submitted originally.

Now i know this will happen a very small amount of time, but i felt it was worth sharing. I honestly feel it was a combination of me visiting her every 3-4 months for 2-3 weeks at a time over the past 3 years (yes i know im lucky to have a good job that can afford me the time off and the expense as well of the travel, please dont blow up at me as others have before when i said i go 3-4 months for 2-3 weeks at a time)and now (as of march 5th) we have a baby girl together as well. And i did submit a lot of evidence of a relationship and i didnt just use the form letters of saying how we met or letter of intent. I wrote from the heart, in my letters and how we met.  If it wasnt for all the prep work we did before sending the original application and then more stuff for the packet 3 as well, and exceeding the min requirements for support i know it would have been a longer process in the interview part of this.

Hope this helps some one else out for timing and it was a super long process for us but this part of the journey is almost over and then we move on to phase 2 of AOS once in the US. We plan to travel and arrive on July 4th :-) thought that was a good day for her and our new daughters first time in America.

I just arrived in the US

POE Philadelphia. They didn't ask me a single question, I just had to go sit in the secondary screening room while they checked through my docs. I sat there for about 15 mins, then my name was called, he handed me my passport and said "good luck, you have 90 days." That was it!
