Yes, this is the crux of the matter. Just here wondering if there are things to present that may help prove this stance. The individual is looking to start college after this vacation. Has anyone presented admission letters or such ?

Im sure young persons have gone on such vacations before and just here wondering how they substantiate attachment to home country.

Why isn’t the individual applying for a student visa if the individual is looking at starting college after the vacation?

wants to spend the gap months/year visiting places

Other places outside the US? That would help if he/she has an itinerary that reflects a gap year itinerary - multiple countries. I don't know many that spend a gap year holed up at a rejativr's house. Usually the purpose of a traveling gap year is to see and experience as much of the world as possible.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

That is normal.

Thank you.

Im just worried because said individual is a recent high school leaver waiting to get into college and wants to spend the gap months/year visiting places. 'So i dont know how a 17 year old can prove ties to home country. The parents and siblings are also in the home country.

Agree with these. Confirmation of a place and preferably a financial commitment at the college.

A decent itinerary and proof of funds to support it. If the relatives are funding/taking the young person around they can show this or send itinerary to the student to present. Other countries ideal but depends on length of gap period - it’s somewhat disconcerting that the OP is vague about the length of this, talking about 3 months in the US but then mentioning gap year.

Nothing was said about starting college in the US

August 2000: We start e-mailing. I'm in Bosnia, she's in Florida

October 29th 2000: She sends me e-mail asking if I would marry her

October 29th 2000(5 seconds later): I say yes

November 2000: She sends me tickets to Orlando for when I get back

December 6th 2000: Return from Bos

December 11th 2000: Fly to Orlando, she meets me at airport

December 22nd 2000: I fly back to UK

January 3rd 2001: She flies to UK (Good times)

Mid February 2001: Pregnancy test Positive

Mid February 2001: She flies back to US

March 2001: Miscarriage, I fly to US on first flight I can get

May 2001: I leave US before my 90 days are up

June 2001: I fly back to US, stopped at airport for questioning as I had only just left

September 2001: Pregnancy test Positive again

September 2001: She falls sick, I make decision to stay to look after her as I am afraid I may have problems getting back in.

April 16th 2002: Our son is born, we start getting stuff together for his passport

March 6th 2003: We leave US for UK as family

Early April 2003: Family troubles make her return to US, I ask Embassy in London about possibilities of returning to US

April 16th 2003: London Embassy informs me that I will be banned from the Visa Waiver Program for 10 years, my little boys first birthday

June 13th 2006: I-129f sent

August 11th 2006: NOA1 Recieved

After our relationship breaks down she admits to me that she had never bothered to start the application process

Individual will be visiting family for the duration and will be catered to by them. They will also pay for the visa fees. This is to ensure its not wasted and to adequately manage expectations.

There's no visa for you under these terms. They can't pay for you. You must sponsor yourself. Until it's true, you won't get a tourist visa as there's no proof that you'll return home on time.

Flimsy, but better if accompanied with tuition pmt receipt. Lots of college-agers miraculously fall in love with american Unis on a US visit.

Okay. Thank you so much.

Okay. This applies to minors as well?

NOTE: I am not a minor or the minor. I am married an undergoing an IR with my spouse at the moment.

Thank you for the highlighted suggestion. Really appreciated.

Í wasn't vague though. I stated a 3-month visit. How is this disconcerting?

People from other places on earth spend gap years differently. Being 'holed up' as you say, is a luxury many cant even afford.

Besides, no one said anything about being holed up anywhere, nor did i fail to mention a duration.

If his parents and older siblings have visas then he has a good chance of getting a visa as well. If they don't, it's not worth applying.

Okay. Thank you.

No, parents do not intend to visit the US at this time.

Thanks a lot.

You did, then followed up by saying “gap months/year” in another post.

Anyway you have the info you need.

I wonder why my post/comments has elicited this reaction from you. It's a bit worrisome.

Thank you though.
