Any idea why the NVC receive times vary so much? Browsed couple of recent timelines and it seems like a lottery, some ppl have to wait full month or longer and others 5 days..  What can be the reason for such a big differences? I know they say it might take up to 6 weeks but still.. it makes me so curious 😅

NVC stage  this is going to depend on several things

1. How many applications are at NVC at this time

2. how fast the applicant gets the I 134 filled out

What Happens in Stage 2?

In Step 2 of the process, the U.S. Citizen Petitioner will be required to complete Form I-134,Affidavit of Support. This form will establish the Petitioner's ability to financially support the Fiancé(e). The Petitioner will be required to send the completed Form I-134 and supporting documents to the Fiancé(e).

The Fiancé(e) should maintain the completed Form I-134 with the other documents requested in the NVC Visa Instruction Packet. The Fiancé(e) will be required to complete a checklist attesting to having collected all of the required documents. The checklist must be signed and returned to the NVC so that your case can be scheduled for interview.

3. NVC contacts the embassy to review dates available for interview ( some have a considerble more interviews than others)

4. when a visa number becomes available for each quarter/ limited number are avaiable

USCIS posts sites and graphs showing number of applications and number of approvals by non immigrant and immigrant visa types according to nationality and embassy /google a question online and look at the figures. / make sure the information is USICS.gov site / some do say DHS (department of homeland security)

everything you need to know is on these pages

I thought since I’m working on my K-1 I will have a checklist from the Embassy not NVC to follow. Including affidavit of support and other docs to send them or show at the interview. In all the guides it seems NVC doesn’t work on K-1 that way, I’m more confused.

But going back to main question, any ideas why some cases are being received by NVC super fast and some waits 1,5 moth to receive a NVC number?

USCIS aproved the petitions and new processing will start at NVC and Embassy so why such a lottery in receiving times 🤷🏻‍♀️

All depends on amount of cases they recieve and how many people they have working and how fast they can process.

most of the times but NVC can ask for additional documents at any time they want and mostly is is only I 134

the post i copied was for K1 only

The annual NOvember reports should be coming out soon / all we can see on the charts is annual report for Novermber 2016 /2,466,667 cases were in NVC office at time of that report

and still all is dependent on your embassy and visa Number availability

when your embassy lets NVC know there is a date available for interview, the case will go

and none of us can tell you when that will happen

Thank you for more detailed explanation, it’s all really helpful!

I’m super frustrated bcs we have an urgent situation and it’s hard to have any kind of estimated times. So I kept browsing recent NVC receive times on updates timelines, hopefully it’s going to happen around the end of NOV or 1st week of Dec. That made me thinking that the times vary a lot and I ended up with this post ;)

Thank you for responding, I appreciate any info I can get.
