The subject of the topic pretty much covers it.

My wife entered the USA on her IR1 visa which was processed and endorsed at the POE into USA.

How long does it take for her to receive the actual green card in the mail ?

Where does the green card get mailed from ? The local USCIS office in our city ?

Where or who would I call to check on the status of it being mailed or if it was mailed already.

We specified a different MAILING address for the card to go to instead of our RESIDENCE address.

Any input from anyone ?

A few days to a few weeks.

It gets mailed from the USCIS service center, I believe Missouri (NBC)

Your passport will be stamped at the POE with an I-551 stamp making it a temporary green card, so can apply for SSN, if you did not check the box on the DS-230, and can work almost immediately after entering the country.

Call USCIS for status.

Is there a timeline thread anywhere in the forums for time to receive card in mail from time of POE ?

Is there anyone reading this thread who entered at POE after March 25th, 2007 with an IV and got their green card yet in the mail ?

I'm trying to get accurate information about how long it is CURRENTLY taking.

Should I start a "Timeline to receive card after POE" thread for others benefit as well ?

Thanks to all.

Oh good lordy, no!

All Green Cards for people entering with Immigrant Visas (CR/IR etc) are produced at the Texas Service Center (according to my DD).

It is most typical for them to be produced immediately after your entry, and to arrive within 4 weeks. If you do NOT have your Green Card and it has been 4 weeks since you entered, your best bet is to follow up *in person* at your District Office.

If that feels too rushed for you, wait 6 weeks. Much longer than that and you can know that your card production order went somewhere it shouldn't have.

During this time, you wll have the endorsed immigrant visa in your passport; it is the documentary equivilant of a Green Card and should be accepted anywhere you need proof of your status.

It takes about 2-4 weeks to receive green card by mail. First, they will send you "Welcome to USA Letter" followed by green card. The correspondences are mailed out from USCIS Texas Service Center, at Mesquite, TX.

Well here is an update. We entered and got IR-1 endorsed on 04/08/2007

Still no welcome letter in the mail, no SS card and no green card.

28 calendar days and 20 working weekdays are gone so far since POE.

Called USCIS customer service number and they said they are just a call center and have no way of looking up cases so they have no idea if our stuff was even mailed, where it was mailed to or if it was mailed and returned for some reason.

Now what ? Are we being impatient ? Should we just wait ? If so, until when ?
