I looked on the USCIS website for processing times out of the California Service Center.  For an I 751, it says it is processing cases as of 8/2/2016.  At the top of the webpage, it says:  Field Office Processing Dates for California Service Center as of: September 30, 2017.

Does this mean realistically that I can add two months on to the 8/2 date since the Service center's last update is September 30, 2016. and we are at the end of November 2017?

Technically yes - I mean I have the same thought process you do, however, who really knows if they're even processing cases from 8/2 yet.. I mean did they just grab a handful of cases form August but adjudicators are still working through June and July? They have been dragging their feet even for biometrics now, for I-751s.

The thing that seems to make the most sense to my wife and I right now is: people filing for naturalization 90 days before the 3 year anniversary mark (so a whole 12 months after filing ROC) is not motivating USCIS to adjudicate I-751s any faster. In fact, it may be more cost effective for them not to.. Think about it, if everyone pays the ROC fee, but say half of them get their cases merged with an N-400, that will save them the cost of producing a green card.

If that is the case, I honestly wish they would just double the fees. I'm much more willing to pay double the price and return to the 2014/15 processing times of 4-5 months but oh well.

I also filed the N-400 application.  If the I-751 application is not approved by the time they review the N-400 paperwork, does the I-751 application go away?

No no - they will adjudicate them together. They have to approve the I-751 before they approve the N-400. So essentially if you're called for the N-400 before your I-751 was approved, it will likely be approved at the naturalization interview, then they'll schedule you for the oath

One filler from December 2016 was approved at California center just recently.

Another one got called for the interview a few months ago and approved as well. Yet there is still people from July 2016 waiting to hear back - so I don't even know if any predictions would be reasonable at this point.

That's not how it works, unfortunately for all of us!

There was someone who put together data on the progress made at CSC from November 2016 to basically now. If I remember correctly, CSC only moved a few months...IN A YEAR. So no, just because it says September 30, doesn't mean CSC is now processing cases 2 months ahead of that date. Sad but true.

The way I look at it (it helps being patient), is that at least I'm not stuck out of the country waiting to get in...! And yes, I also filed for citizenship and I can't honestly wait to be over and done with this!

F-1 Visa: Academic years 2007/2010.

K-1 Visa: I-129F sent Aug 2013; Approved Jan 2014.

Green Card: AOS sent Feb 2014; Approved Jan 2015.

Removal of Conditions: I-751 sent Nov 2016; Approved Apr 2018.

US Citizenship: Application sent Nov 2017; Fingerprints Nov 2017; Civics/English exam March 2018; Oath May 2018.

Thanks for sharing your timeline.

I hope your interview for the N400 is soon. Also, I have a question, how do you file for naturalization online? I keep checking their website but I dont see where that option is. I will file as soon as I am eligible in July of next year

So since the California office is so far behind processing the I-751 applications.  I guess it makes sense to go ahead and file the N400?  It will be 3 years my wife and I have been married in April.

The count off is 3 yrs from the date you received your permanent residency, not just the date of marriage.
