Worried about not receiving GreenCard

My spouse and I were married January 3rd and we then applied for AOS on February 18th. I applied for AP for the last week of July because I am planning a wedding reception for us back home in Canada.

Here's the problem:

I have not been approved for AP yet and our AOS interview is scheduled for May 21. It is my understanding that once you go through the AOS interview, your AP documents are void. So basically, I'm banking on my GreenCard arriving before the last week of July so I can attend my celebration. I want some personal opinions based on your own experience etc....Should I just cancel the whole frickin' celebration? I would hate to have relatives book motel rooms for the event only to find out that *I* have cancelled it. Plus, I'm putting a lot of energy into planning this thing....Is it too much of a risk to be planning this thing when I'm not even 100% that I can leave?

Any thoughts would be appreciated....

Kristy

Why would you?

AP takes around 90 days so you can leave the country with that, if not your GC.

Hmm...Well, I'm worried because I didn't think I would be able to use my AP after my interview. I must be wrong about this?

Kristy

Your AP is good for 1 year or until you receive your GC. (I'm pretty sure)

no, once approved, your AP is void. if approved at the interview, you will have a wait until gc in hand and AP is invalid.

You're not "Travelling immediately after interview" though are you?

If you're not approved at interview, your AP remains valid.

If you are approved at interview your GC should arrive before the end of July.
