Sponsoring parents who have overstayed their visa

I am a US citizen want to sponsor my parents for greencard. Back in 2000, they overstayed their visa for about 5 years. My father was put in removal proceedings as well but ultimately they left on voluntary departure with no expense to the government. This was in 2005. It has been more than 10 years and now they are in Pakistan. If I file for their greencard, can their petition be denied based on their overstay? Thanks in advance

^^ Very interesting, I just sponsored my parents that overstayed, but they never left. 

i think if the 10 year ban is fulfilled you should be able to sponsor them without no problem
