Application status

I just submitted my package to California  center. I don't  know how would I be able to track the status of my application online ? Is there a uscis status website to know if they got this form ? Thanks

You'll know they got it when your check clears.

 

Then you'll get a "notice of action" (NOA) that also acts as a 1-yr extension of your green card. Your NOA will have a case number on it, but that case number can't be used to check your status. (You'll need it as the extension letter, and you'll use that case number if you need to change your address while the I-751 is in process.

 

Then, after awhile, you'll get an appointment letter for your biometrics. On your biometrics letter, there will be 2 case numbers. One will be the same as the one on your NOA. The other one will be a case number for "CRI-89" - and that's the number you can check the status with. It will probably say something like:

"My Case was Received."  However, as of right now, nothing else that USCIS does will show as an update on that screen. The status will stay the same for at least a year (unless they really "get cracking" on our processing, which seems unlikely, as it's been getting slower and slower year over year) and then, once you've been approved, and your case is sent to the production facility for the new green card, your status will start updating, with "My card is being produced" and "My card is being mailed to me"
