How long ago did NVC receive your file?

haha, my case is probably still with USCIS. We just received the approval letter yesterday, but the status on the website it's still as "received"

I hope it doesn't take over 2 weeks for them to get it. We will start calling next friday.

Oh, ok. So yeah you can call next week to see if it’s been received. Once you get your case # you feel like you’re finally getting to the end of the rope and the stress gets less

When you filed your 1-130 I do believe your Email was put in the form and Your Lawyer when filing your Forms had to sign a form stating he or she is representing u, so this is how they already have your email. If you didn’t have a Lawyer in the beginning of the process and you have one now, then Your Lawyer should notify them. We pay lawyers to do the work, so let them call. Keep on your Lawyer as most of them collect your money and then they drag their feet because it’s not them trying to get their loved ones here, so keep on Lawyer abt everything.

Oooooooooooooh now I got that! So my situation is the second option. I didin't have a lawyer in the beginning of the process and then as I said a little bit before, like literally some days I got an attorney. Well, I think he notified them. And that's true they only think about money and that sucks. Either way I will still keep calling them and ask to add my email and my spouse email because I have the I-130 that I saved before I send and I can't see the spot where we put our emails. Also, I think calling the NVC won't disturb the attorney's job since anyone is allowed to call between the attorney, petitioner and the beneficiary, right?

Yes you can call them and yes you can give the email addresses to NVC so you can be contacted, your wife or Lawyer.

Im not trying to be nosey but why hire a lawyer after you filed the 1-130 yourself??

Or did you have a agency prepare your 1-130 for you??

Oh it is ok! Don't worry! Well me and my spouse didin't know anything about GC even when we filled the petition. So Since Feb 21, 2017 we've been waiting for an answer and we started to think there was something wrong with our process (what is still incredible, all this time me and my spouse never had the interest to study more about the process and know every step. We've been working a lot and planning millions of things traveling). So a couple friends of us had an attorney and talked about it a little bit and they were getting quick answers and then me and my spouse started to worry about it. On Dec 12, 2017 we decided to get the same attorney as our friends has and then he started to take care of everything. Everything was fine and then on Jan 18, 2018 we got the NOA2 by mail and we got reeeeeeeeeally excited about it. Well, that's it.

Now, the thing I'm a little bit confused is...I read about the steps trough the NVC process and specially the part to get to know if the NVC assigned a Case Number and IIN, do the DS-261, IV Fee, AOS Fee...requires a little bit of attention which is calling them every time. And then I think "How does the attorney is going to do that? If he has a lot of cases I assume..." So as I'm already impatience and trying to rush things...I will keep calling the NVC to help.

Ok, now I understand  why you got a Lawyer. It’s like wanting to know you do all the steps correctly because if not it can cause delays.

NVC will automatically assign you a case # and Invoice # after they receive your file and after it’s placed into their system of the wonderful world of technology... 😀

Yes even this you have a Lawyer now, I would call NVC so you can be sure they have a email/emails in file as that is fastest method for them to make contact with you. NVC states to be sure you have at least 1 Good Email contact..

As far as your attorney goes, once you have your case # and Invoice # you can sign in to the NVC website and you, your lawyer and spouse can see everything of what you do there because you will sign in with your case # & Invoice #, so you will get the hang of everything. After agent is picked (DS261) then you pay fees out of your checking acct...  Trust me most of us here don’t know what to expect or do unless you study on the process and get advice from others who are doing this same process.

Not everyone’s case is the same, so always talk to Lawyer since you have one...

Its hard to be patient but with this long process that’s all u can do..

Vincent & Alejo AND spannerfrog, pls don’t loose your sanity. This is a long process and it will try your patience but you must keep strong...

I myself didn’t get approved for almost 1 year. I was 6 days shy of it being 1 year and I can tell you that you feel helpless and stressed that you can’t think straight, but the day comes that you get approved, so hang in there. Find people to talk to that are going thru this process because others that aren’t have NO IDEA of what this feels like unless they themselves are doing it or been through it before.

This group is to offer support and guidance, so when your down, reach out because we are here for you....

i second what Sundee said.  I waited almost 13 months for my approval. The wait bought me to my knees many times.  Once you get the approval there is nothing like that feeling.  If I didn't have this vj community to help me get through this I would've went insane.  This community understand what you are going through. Everyone is here for you that is in this community.

Well, They received my case on Jan 18, 2018 and next week I will to call them every day haha! Well, I hope everything goes well and fast. I'm so anxious about this process finish...calculating (trying) the time...I think I will have Case Completed by the end of March and interview on April. (Hopefully God bless me and everything gets faster and I finish it way before haha)

I’m happy to hear that you’re studying this process and reaching out to this forum as so much here is very helpful. While you’re waiting for case# make sure to start collecting your documents as it’s really helpful so you have them ready to go when  all fees and DS260 is completed.

If you haven’t already done so, make sure Your Spouse gets the police report from all places they have lived and make sure you are provided with all addresses lived at from age 16 to current.

Oh yes at NVC stage you must also provide documents.

Ok, so let me try and explain next steps after you are Approved from Uscis.

After approval your file is sent to NVC

After Case # and Invoice # is given then you pay fees of $120 & $325.

After fees are processed, the DS260 form gets unlocked and then you fill it in.. The DS260 form is mainly abt the benificiary.

After that is filled in make sure you print out the confirmation page.

Yes this is same for everyone that is filing for their Spouse..

Go on web site....... travel.state.gov and read about NVC process. I will look for a list of items you will need and place it here
