Hey ,

I am applying without a lawyer, after reading some of the posts on VisaJourney. I just had a few questions before getting started.

  1. I am 18, we have over 500 pictures, multiple plane tickets, hotel bookings, and we will have more family pictures- official ceremony pictures on Jan 5th. Because I am going to meet her again Jan 1- Jan 20. Do you guys have any more suggestions/tips on what I should do when I go regarding proof,  more pictures, and etc.
  2. I am 18 so I am currently a student attending college. I have had two part-time jobs in the past 2 years which I never had to file taxes for because I think it fell under my mothers because I am a dependent on her tax returns. However, I have two Co-sponsors available, my sister and my mother- both blood-related (if that matters.) My mother has a house fully paid-off but a low income because my dad passed away (he was the primary source.) On the other hand, my sister has had a high income for the past two years and has assets- including fully-paid off house, 6 cars, 2 bikes, many other things such as a snowmobile, all fully paid off, and more. She has a house but her address on her driver's license and documents is the same as me because she never got a chance to change it (if that helps.) My question is what would I write in the employer section of the K1 visa forms and what proofs do you guys recommend me gathering pertaining to my sister.

And lastly, if there's any other helpful tips or information you guys have that you think would be useful with my situation would be much appreciated. Thanks!

1. What country is your fiance from? If she is from a country that is known for higher fraud rates (MENA or African countries), then it is worth it to 'front load' your petition with a lot of evidence. Otherwise, just a few photos will be enough. The most important evidence is generally proof that you have met in person, so plane tickets, boarding passes, passport stamps, ect. are all very helpful. What are the ceremony photos that you are referring to? Be careful that the 'ceremony' does not closely resemble a wedding, as people have been questioned and even denied because the couple had a ceremony and the officer viewed them as married.

2. The I-129F petition should contain information in regards to you and your fiance, so you would put your employment history under the employer section. If you are using a co-sponsor (either your mom or sister), they will need to complete a I-134 that will need to presented to the consular officer when your fiance attends her interview. You do not need any information from the co-sponsor during the initial I-129F petition. If you are using your sister as your co-sponsor, she will need to provide you with her recent tax returns and salary information. Again, this isn't needed until the interview, so you have several months after submitting the I-129F documents to get what you need from her. Current processing times are averaging around 6-9 months until your I-129F petition is approved and the interview is scheduled.

Good luck!
