1. ACA aka Obamacare.

2. Private insurance.

3. Pay out of pocket.

4. California MAY have subsidized options. You will have to research it.

Unfortunately, many employee based insurance do not cover parents.

My mother in law got her 10 year green card recently.  She's been with us for about 18 months now, and have never worked in the US.

What are my options to get her health insurance?

In the old days liberal states like CA,NY used to cover every one regardless of worked or not. But now based on NY experience you can apply using health exchange but it will take some time to get the insurance bec she has no income and never worked.

If your MIL is a non-smoking christian (it's a must to be able to join) , it could work for her.

I'm actually going to get it for myself as well for 2018.

Anyone reading this needs to be aware that this is not health insurance.

it doesn't really matter as long as it pays medical bills (hospital, ER and etc included) and being a member, you are  an exempt of paying penalty.

Well the OP asked about health insurance which is different. Let us know how great it is when you actually use it as I've used something similar to this in the past for dental and it wasn't all the great (I hope I'm wrong in your case). I actually found at times it was easier to just pay out of pocket as most clinics/hospitals give discounts if you don't have insurance. Best of luck.

Sorry one last thing, be sure to read the fine print (I've posted a small section of the legal notice in their guidelines):

LEGAL NOTICES

The following legal notices are the result of discussions by Liberty HealthShareSM or other healthcare

sharing ministries with several state regulators and are part of an effort to ensure that Sharing Members understand that Liberty HealthShareSM is not an insurance company and that it does not guarantee payment of medical costs. Our role is to enable self-pay patients to help fellow Americans through voluntary financial gifts.

GENERAL LEGAL NOTICE

This program is not an insurance company nor is it offered through an insurance company. This program does not guarantee or promise that your medical bills will be paid or assigned to others for payment. Whether anyone chooses to pay your medical bills will be totally voluntary. As such, this program should never be considered as a substitute for an insurance policy. Whether you receive any payments for medical expenses and whether or not this program continues to operate, you are always liable for any unpaid bills.
