We just found out my wife is pregnant. We need her mother her to care for her and our 4 year old son, and the baby when it is born. Is there any kind of expedited Visa for family hardship in cases such as this?

No, there is no expedited hardship for this case. You wife needs to file for her mother when she is a USC, or you can file for her to come here as a tourist.

There is NO work allowed on a tourist visa, watching children is considered work

As stated above, applying for a tourist visa so that your mother in law can take care of children is not an expedite reason but instead a reason for the visa to be denied.

If your wife is a USC she can file for her to immigrate to the US.

  1. Congrats!
  2. She can file for her mother once she is a USC. Even then it's a 1 year wait. No expedite for pregnancy.
    1. The mother can try to get a tourist visa (you/your wife cannot sponsor her). But she cannot be a caretaker - that is considered work and therefore a violation of status.

Why?  Many women with children work full time jobs while pregnant. Pregnancy is not a hardship but a personal choice.

 

  If she does not have a physical problem such that she requires personal care assistance, she should look into parenting classes for herself and preschool for your son.
