That's a letter that uscis sends out as a reminder so ppl don't forget to file.

I don't understand why people are so confused about their filing date - they did it correctly. A CR1 is an LPR from the day they enter, that's when their clock starts. Thus that's the 2 year anniversary the 90 days should be immediately preceding.

I do not think people are confused about the filing date

they are pointing out that CBP is responsible for admission/denial to the US, so calling USCIS to get an answer was not helpful

Also, they are stating correctly that without the 1 year extension letter or I551 stamp, the airline employee had no way to determine the person's status in the US other than to view an apparently expired GC

That was not the letter we had.  That was a notice we received long before filing the I-751. The person was asking why we filed I-751 so early. If you bothered to read this thread that would be apparent.

It appeared from the way you presented it in the thread that that was the letter you gave the airline.

Regardless, you shouldn't have travelled without the proper extension letter.

You would think calling USCIS 4x and being advised the same every time would be enough.  I guess in hindsight I should have read message boards for months ahead of time.  #######? 🤪

Yep, nope.  USCIS routinely gives out false or misleading information.  Plus, you can't expect employees in a privately owned company to have any idea what USCIS thinks are its own policies.

Hint: when you have to call someone 4 times to validate the information, do not trust them.   Find a printed source and bring the information with you (Spanish version of the carrier guide, page 42)

Multiple ppl have commented on the filing date. That is what my comment was for, but thank you for repeating the rest of the thread responses which I said nothing about or against (???)

I would go to the news with this.

For what?  The airline does not have to let you board even if you have the correct documentation.  If they think there is a chance you will be denied entry they will not issue a boarding pass as the airline gets fined and has to transport the person back at the airline's expense.

We just flew back from LONDON to the US on a MAJOR transatlantic carrier. The counter agent in London did not know how to use their internal system to document a ROC letter. Took two of her other colleagues to ENTER the information in the correct fields.

Makes we wonder if airlines in Developing Countries this might be an issue?

Sounds a bit racist.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

As others pointed out unfortunately USCIS tier 1 reps are known for giving out conflicting information. They are great at answering basic questions but if your situation is complex it is better to speak to an experienced immigration attorney. I say this as I was given conflicting information on my own travel situation. As TboneTX pointed out it is better to call CPB as POE issues are governed by them and rules are constantly changing.

If you booked your airline tickets through your credit card have you considered filing a dispute through them? Often credit cards offer travel insurance as ours does and you could consider looking into an insurance claim if the regular dispute process didn't work out. While the process of disputing a charge through a credit card can be lengthy at least the company may be able to advocate on your behalf for some money back or at least a travel credit.
