I'm unable to quote. But do not get a copy of the 797 extension letter. Original or 551 stamp in passport. Copy is not an approved travel document according to CBP Carriers Guide.

I think by copy they meant another copy from USCIS which would be an official document, not a photocopy.

Yes they can reissue a new official 797 document apparently if you make an appointment at the local USCIS office

Thanks for the advice.  I agree that the airline is at fault and it would do more harm than good to go after them if she is trying to gain citizenship, etc

If this is supposed to be a copy of the letter you received after you sent in your I751, it does not say it was accepted.....It actually says you filed too early, which would explain why you never received the 1 year extension letter

If that is not what this is, then I am confused

Exactly! You best get right with the folks standing between you and your airplane seat and you and U.S. soil. USCIS isn't the arbiter of pass/no pass at the airport. Why anyone would fly with an expired green card and no stamp is a mystery to me. My opinion is that you didn't want to wait, went with a phone promise, and now you're upset and wanting to sue someone. Your experience is good advice for others thinking of rolling the dice with nothing more than a "yeah, go ahead buddy, you'll be good" wink and a nod. I'd be amazed if it didn't happen to you. The airline did its job - you weren't legal.

I agree that that letter did not do them any favors, in fact it does appear to do the opposite.  If I were an airline employee, I wouldn't let her board with it.

That was not the letter we had.  That was a notice we received long before filing the I-751. The person was asking why we filed I-751 so early. If you bothered to read this thread that would be apparent.

That's a letter that uscis sends out as a reminder so ppl don't forget to file.

I don't understand why people are so confused about their filing date - they did it correctly. A CR1 is an LPR from the day they enter, that's when their clock starts. Thus that's the 2 year anniversary the 90 days should be immediately preceding.

I actually read the entire thread, it was completely not clear from the letter you posted what you were trying to demonstrate
