Hi everyone, my case was approved November 2nd 2017. My wife has submitted all the neccesary paperwork to the NVC. And I am expecting an interview soon. I'm 30 and my wife is 45. She came to Nigeria October 2016 and we got married. She hasn't visited since. I have a picture album of our wedding, hotel receipt, Facebook chats, and marriage and divorce certificates as evidence, do we have a chance?

We do not know what evidence you actually submitted to USCIS frontloading the application

but you have a considerable age diffence (we also did but took us 6 years for an approval

also biggest problem is you married on the first visit / chances of approval in Nigeria are slim with only 1 visit

not trying to discourage you but you have a hard embassy and it may be a long road ahead for you

@Edwin007 while the petition was in process, she probably should have gotten another visit in....Nigeria is not as difficult as it once was, but a little more face time would have helped because they are big on that..As far as a marriage on a first meeting, it happens quite often and people have gotten approved...As far as age, there are people I know with a much larger age gap than yours and got approved...My suggestion will be to have her attend your interview so the CO will know she is there for support...You have all the other evidence covered which is secondary, but the face time is what's going to hurt, so please tell her to at least attend the interview...Good luck on your journey!

Hi everyone, my interview is coming up in a week. My wife was introduced to me by her cousin who is also an American citizen and she also came with her to Nigeria during our wedding, she also signed as a witness, but they came to Nigeria once. I have supporting documents like chat logs, transfer docs, marriage cert, divorce cert, wedding photos etc. Do we have a good chance?

You better ask this in your region specific forum.

Usually a CR1 is a pretty straight forward visa without many hickups. but I think Nigeria is one of the high fraud countries. I am also wondering whether being introduced to your wife through her cousin could be seen as an arranged marriage. I'm not familiar enough with your culture or your embassy to know if that will be seen as a problem or not. Did I read it right that you only met your wife once and she married you on that same trip? That could be a red flag also.

Again, ask your fellow Nigerians, they know best.

How many times have you visited?

Did you marry on the first visit?

Is there an age gap?

How did you meet?

Not enough time in person for Lagos. Look at your regional forum for more clues on how to improve your case.

Edwin you asked the same question in Januari and back then they advised you already to try and get more visits in or even ask your wife to come to the interview with you. I think that last one will help you the most.

You met only one time and that is when you got married? When is the last time you saw each other? Also, did your wife's cousin ever sponsor someone for an immigration benefit?

To answer your question, no you do not have a great chance. You are in a high fraud country and have many of the red flags of a fraud, including the amount of time you've spent in person and getting married the first time you meet, plus if you haven't seen each other in a year or more that's another one. So you should err on the side of a TON of evidence, including lots of chats over a long period of time where you discuss intimate things (I don't mean X rated, I mean what a couple would discuss about kids, finances, trips, lifestyle etc). The more photos in different situations the better but that sounds like that will be a problem outside of the wedding ceremony pictures.
