Do we need a second joint sponsor for adjustment of status?

My fiance obtained his visa and will come to the US next month. We sent our joint sponsor form I 134 to the embassy since I am a student and do not earn enough income. I am reading what you need for the adjustment of status and it says that affidavit of support form i 864 needs to be completed and if you don't earn enough you need a joint sponsor. Why do we need to fill this information out again after we already sent mine and the joint sponsor's information before his interview? And since it needs to be completed again do we need a different joint sponsor or can it be the same one?

 For one the I134 has been found to be not legally binding.  The I864 is legally binding putting the sponsors on the hook until the immigrant dies, the sponsor dies , the immigrant leaves the US permanently , the immigrant becomes a USC or the immigrant gets 40 quarters of social security credit ( which could be never )

Different process => different forms. The I-864 is required for any family-based intending immigrant to obtain a green card. As stated above, it's also the legally binding form, with more defined requirements and a higher minimum (125% of the federal poverty level).

 

You don't need a second joint sponsor...you can use the same one as you did for the I-134. Or a different one. Or none at all if you no longer need one.
