Hey Everyone. I'm back in Canada for what I thought was going to be just more of a time away to think, but it turned into a separation and now my husband and I have decided to get a divorce. We've tried a lot of things to work through it and we just are not on the same page, so it's okay. I am not planning on moving back to the US to get my citizenship or anything, I am ready to cut my ties.

I would love any advice that y'all have for me about what I should keep in mind before I hand in my green card.

Sorry you're going through this. I would hold off doing anything concerning the green card just for a little bit longer. Not sure how long you've been gone and right now emotions are probably running high.  Allowing just a bit more t ime to think in case there is some reason you may want to keep your GC.

Also depending on what state you lived in the waiting time to file for divorce might be shorter then the 1 yr wait in Canada. So you may want to take that into who files.
