I forgot to add the disclaimer that this isn’t current.  It happened in 2014.  But still quite a shameful thing.  Ranks right up there (in my opinion) with gun homicides.  When caregivers sit back and don’t care for the patient, letting him die... that is murder.  But I doubt there will be any outrage over this, nor any other maltreatment of vets.

Because not very many people get ll that up in arms about veterans dying nor their maltreatment.  More vets die from suicide every year than gun homicides, but how many times has that been a discussion on here that goes on for 20+ pages?

My wife works at a VA home and she tells me all the time about how her coworkers cut corners when it comes to the care of the residents and they make fun of her for doing her job how she is supposed to. Before she took the job I explained to her that the people she would be caring for are heroes and should be treated as such. She takes that seriously. Unfortunately some of her coworkers don't. I think part of it is the low pay these people get and the forced overtime but that is no excuse.

This story is appearing in more news sources. I just saw it on the Denver post site today. I think the reaction is overwhelmingly shock and disgust at the attitude and lack of compassion of the nurses.

That’s good, I suppose.  But for the veteran who died, and his family, I dunno if they will feel any relief.

I was happy to see the nurse who sued the city (or state) when she refused to draw blood and was mistreated by the police.  Sadly, I doubt the family of this vet (should any still remain) will be so fortunate to get any recompense out of the hospital or the nurses.
