you've been able to cross during your process?? no way! i didn't dare to try and then screw it up for myself. it would've been way easier for me to visit him instead of him visiting me but everyone that knows something about this advised me against it

Yes I was absolutely terrified especially the first time I crossed. I was so stressed I wound up going to the doctor because I wound up with a stomach ulcer!

My spouse went to a lawyer to make sure there was nothing I was doing that would compromise the process. But I learned it's okay to visit as long as you come and go when you say you will and prove ties. The first time I reported to secondary was quite stressful. Which was expected. I show up to the border each time I travel with the thought I might be sent back home. So far I have traveled 3 times successfully and with each trip the secondary interview has gone faster.

I will say from my experience most border officials can see right through people. I took this for granted the first time we crossed that we could wander in and adjust status. The subsequent trips I arm myself with a binder and all of our ties. The border has been so impressed 2 of them said they wish they could keep a copy of everything to show other people. I do not take crossing for granted. I honestly had a bit of an ego and sense of entitlement before. They want people to show respect for them and the process.

I was honestly terrified about crossing the first time after my ordeal which is why I wanted to share my story. I was even put on the SSSS list (special security list) probably because I was considered an immigration risk. I made it through okay and was able to visit! In your case you are a permanent resident which actually gives you rights. Unlike when you are merely a Canadian in order to deny a PR entry they must have a very valid reason. You will have absolutely no issues and the fact you completed your GC shows you did the process legally. At the end of the day I have been told that's all the border wants (your paperwork in order).
