I am looking for information on how to get the military records needed for a USCIS interview. My wife served in the Mexican Marina or Marines and we have no idea where to get the military records needed for the interview.

Thank you you for any information.

According to the NVC reciprocity page for Mexico:

"Available. Military identity cards (cartilla militar) may be accepted in lieu of a record from the Ministry of Defense. However, in the case of individuals who have served, or are serving in a career status, military records may be obtained from the Secretaria de la Defensa Nacional (Ministry of National Defense) in Mexico City."

Above is a link to the Secretaria de la Defensa Nacional (Ministry of National Defense) website. It’s in Spanish. I am not finding anything on here about how to request military records, I’m hoping this can be done online. Would anyone be willing to look over the website and see if there is any information that I am overlooking?

 Thanks for the help.

Does anyone happen to know what the military records look like? I have some documents that I hope may be the records. They were stamped and signed by the secretary of the marina. On the nvc reciprocity website it states that military records can be requested from the ministry of national defense. But in my research they cover the army and Air Force while the secretary of the marina covers the navy.

Any my help or advice is appreciated. Thanks

So far the only thing I have found out by calling the marina and speaking with the departments that actually have records, they want the request to be made in person, in Mexico City, and you need multiple ID’s and your CURP card. You also need your Baja letter from when you left. Then if they can locate any records you can get them, but you don’t know how long it will take. But if you were in the Army or Air Force you simply request them online from their website. Calling and emailing the marina gets you nowhere, they expect you to actually go there in person. If you find a better way I would surly like to know it. Also the Ministry of National Defense (where the US Department  of State website says to get records from) has nothing to do with the Marina from what the Ministry of National Defense told me. I don’t see how they can list records as available when they are extremely hard to get if they even have them.
