So good news! My wife has the ceremony this Friday, but I read somewhere on this website in some location family members are not allowed for the ceremony. How can I find this out? It’s in a jury room in nyc...

I had mine at Cadman Plaza (Brooklyn's court house), family members were brought in later on during the ceremony to witness the actual oath itself.  Before then, they are directed to wait in the cafeteria where they can watch the proceedings on a television screen.  No cameras or cellphones are permitted in the court house, however, and must be left with security two floors down in the lobby.

 

If your oath is at Federal Plaza, family members are welcome as well....not sure about the rules regarding photo-taking/cellphones there.

i also heard we have to bring 2 passport style photos to the ceremony...is that correct? my wife wants to apply for a passport as soon as she can

To the oath ceremony?  No, photos are not required/collected at the oath ceremony.  There are some oath ceremonies where passports can be applied for AT the actual ceremony, in which case that's probably why people bring them on their oath day, in case they are given the opportunity to put in their passport application right after taking their oath.

 

Some people bring two passport style photos to the N400 interview on the *off chance* the IO determines during the interview that the biometrics photo cannot be used for the certificate for whatever reason.  This is just to save the applicant from getting an RFE for them later on (again, if they cannot use the biometrics photo----happens VERY rarely, but it has happened in the past to people here.).

 

I brought them just in case the above scenario happened, but my photo was fine and they were not needed.  Wasn't a waste of time/money on my part as I just used them during my passport application a couple of days later.

oh ok, also, my wife is filling out the back of the form she has to take to the cermony...all the questions ask "since your interview"...does that mean the interview/test she took a few months ago for naturalization?

Curious---is she having her oath ceremony in Brooklyn or in Manhattan?
