Hi, I have been to get my vaccination history from my doctors for my fiancee visa today and I had my tetanus while I was there. The nurse told me that I will probably need the MMR as I only had rubella and measles when I was younger and not mumps but that I had to wait a month for the first jab and then had to wait a further 3 months for the second one. I can't wait that long - it's been long enough!!

Does anyone know if this is true as I have read different things on this forum?

Andre got the MMR last May and he just got it in a one time shot. Are you sure it was the MMR she was talking about? Almost sounds to me like you are describing the time frame for the different Hepatitis shots.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I had to have the MMR shot too since I have never had mumps. I was told that when I go for the medical exam for AOS, I will need to get another MMR shot. I believe you need 3 shots in order to be fully immune against MMR.

I had my vaccines last tuesday for my medical last friday.

I had 2 shots. Tetanus/Diphtheria/Polio was one in one shoulder.

MMR was the other shot in the other shoulder. Both vaccines are for life. It took 5 minutes.

Sounds like the nurse doesn't know what she's talking about.

Yes, MMR is one shot, and Jomo's Girl was correct - as far as I know, its Hepatitis which is 3 shots, my nursing friend needed them.

I got told the same thing! Apparently in 94 (when i got a boost for rubella and measles) they didnt give a boost for mumps. I'm not sure, but I havent got time now before I leave to get that shot! I'll have to deal with it in the states!

MMR can be 1 or 2 shots but I think they only recommend 2 shots if you are at high risk for exposure ... such as working in health care

i had to have everything going and it was all done together in five minutes. I've never heard of waiting 3 months between jabs and certainly that is not mentioned in any of the medical info sheets you are given. I think the person you spoke to is either new or doesnt have a clue. Incidentally I am needle phobic and thought I would pass out when the needles came out. The nurse I had was simply the most wonderful human being in the world. She completely got my attention off what was happening by talking about music and tv, and I honestly didnt feel either of the needles. I was waiting for pain and it never came, and it has really helped my phobia. When Im in London next Im gonna pop back as I have her name and give her flowers or something.
