so true, have them at work...no stains on the sink here ever..

I'm surprised we have not had some interesting observation from you about our collective fascination with (poo)!

It's been my observation that people love to talk about their bathroom business, but I'm really not qualified to say why. Why????

most everyone of course not my sister mo or brother daniel, are stuck in the ####### fixation stage...

But what does that *mean*? Everyone has their head up their azz? Wishes they did?

Come on! Spoon feed me some Psych 101!

In the psychology of Freud, the ####### stage is said to follow the oral stage of infant/early-childhood development. This is a time when an infant's attention moves from oral stimulation to ####### stimulation (including the bowels and bladder), usually synchronous with learning to control their excretory functions, a time of toilet training. Those who retain an "obsession with detail" (such as that required to learn to control one's #######) into later life are often said to have retained their "#######" disposition, and therefore are "#######-retentive." Some believe this to be a mild expression of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I have to say, no matter how clean the bathroom is, I never trust the little toilet seat covers. I never sit on a public toilet. I definitely prefer "the stance"!

But I can totally relate to the scenario in the OP's post. Especially the part about the water spraying up when the toilet flushes! It's so gross, and it makes you think about all of the people who have used the toilet before you.

Dang, I should've asked for Psych 201. It's already been established that I'm the Secretary of the AR Club over at the other visa group... (you should see the Prez--talk about detail oreiented!)

It's amusing.. on the Brit expat site, the women tend to complain about American's obsession with the seat covers. The women don't mind sitting on a shared seat, but they can't bear the lack of privacy from that annoying crack where the door does not meet the jam.

This story is my worst nightmare. :o

First of all, I make sure there's enough toilet paper in there and steal a roll from the

next stall, if necessary. (I use a LOT of paper.) Then I double-flush and wipe off the

toilet seat with lots and lots of paper (men's restrooms are horrible - the seats are

often wet - yuck!) I usually leave the paper (that I used to clean the seat with)

in the bowl to avoid splashes later on, then use two seat covers to cover the seat.

It's quite a ritual.

I wipe it off and then just sit (if I'm at my office) or else wipe it off, put paper down and then sit (if I'm anywhere else). Not a fan of "the stance" since I think that's why there's all the dribble on the seat that I have to wipe off! :P

Apparently, "the stance" helps prevent haemorrhoids.

In Freud’s view:

1. All mental energy was derived from the body.

2. Humans only have a limited amount of energy. 3. There is causation for all human behavior.

4. The goal of human behavior is tension-reduction.

Human Behavior appeared as a result of impulses.

Stage 2: Ages 2 to 4. The ####### Stage. As children learn how to control their own bladder, urination and defecation play an increasing role in the child’s life. Children associate both praise and criticism with the withholding or release of body waste. ####### fixation can occur due to the discrepancy between the praise given for successful toilet practice and the coexisting disgust of fecal material.

Partial ####### Fixation: Orderliness, parsimoniousness, and obstinancy define the "####### Character" . Also referred to as "####### retentive".
