Hi just a quick question...i got married in florida through the k1 visa on Friday and I want to remain as a dual citizen. How do I renew my UK passport/change my name? Can I do it over here or do I have to do it online via the UK passport system? My passport doesn't expire until 2019 but I will need to change my name. Thanks

All on line now.

It's all online, you complete the application, pay the fee, print the receipt and send everything to Dublin.  It took mine about 3 weeks to come back :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

Dublin? I think you mean Durham.

Probably autocorrect thought Dublin was a better place!!! 😬

I assumed it was a EU thing, you never know.

I can't swear to it because it's a while since I did it but I remember being surprised and double checking the address, for overseas applications I think it was Dublin

What do you mean by "remain as a dual citizen"? You're not a USC yet and won't be for at least three years. Marrying an American does not change your nationality or give you another one. You will always be British, no matter how long you live here. Even if your passport expires, you're still British. A passport is just a travel document to get on a plane and show to border officials. You don't need to renew it to keep your nationality, you only need to renew it if you want to travel.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

Well, I guess Durham's a surprising place to find a passport office, but that's where it is. To be clear, British passport applications are not processed through Dublin.
