help with N400 form

i am working on the e-filing N400 via 5-year -rule .But i  had to pause in the middle and ask VJer some questions to clarify few things.

i am married and had my kid born in home country. i had a parking ticket with $20 fine in 2014. i paid the fine with cash and case closed(i have document to prove ).  here is the evidence list of what i had been asked to upload online.

Required evidence:  1 Your Green Card,  2, Your marriage certificate

Additional evidence to support your application

Including these documents now can help make the application process easier, but you can also bring them to your naturalization interview if you do not choose to upload them now.

  • Evidence of your name change
  • Information about your arrest(s) -- If you have ever been arrested or detained anywhere in the world, by any law enforcement officer, for any reason, and no charges were filed, upload clear images of these documents:

    ·         An original or court-certified arrest report.  An official, certified statement from the arresting agency or applicable court confirming that no charges were filed

  • Information about arrest(s) or conviction(s) removed from your record ---- If you have ever had any arrest or conviction vacated, set aside, sealed, expunged, or otherwise removed from your record, upload clear images of these documents:

    ·         An original or court-certified court order vacating, setting aside, sealing, expunging, or otherwise removing the arrest or conviction from your record

    ·         An original statement from the court that no record exists of your arrest or conviction

  • Additional evidence you want to provide
  • Evidence about your child(ren)

on the form N400, there is a question asking , Have you ever been arrested, cited, detained by law enforcement officer, for any reason ?  my understanding is ,my parking ticket is still a citation, but not an arrest or anything like that .

However, if i chose YES to this question, and i will be asked to provide two evidence documents( highlighted in RED above). But i wasn't arrested, detained or anything to deal with court. it's just as simple as a ticket bill that the cop left on the windshield . No criminal . dont understand why it asked these types of evidences. Does any filer here have been asked the same evidences if you just has a traffic ticket like mine ?

Another question is ,  as i am married and have child. Even my green card is not as married to US citizen, i am applying through 5-year-rule. It still asked everything information about spouse and child. and Now asked me to provide evidence about my biological child. i dont know what the evidences are related to my child. i can come up with everything  that my child has---birth certificate, SSN, green card, passport, ...all of his ID documents. But they didnt even ask any evidence about my spouse. i dont understand this.

thanks for any input.

No, you are okay. It's a $20 parking ticket - they're looking for criminal or other citations, like being cited for driving under the influence, etc. You don't need to include anything about the ticket. You had a ticket, not a citation - it's a weird 'words in English' thing.

thanks, Do you advise if i should choose NO in the question, Have you ever been arrested, cited, detained by law enforcement officer, for any reason ?

but i am still going to include this ticket and payment proof as a statement in my filing.  and bring these to the interview as well.

I looked further into it - select YES and include the information. Always better to include a bit extra but a $20 ticket won't threaten you application.

See question 10 - https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/nativedocuments/July2008Q%26A.pdf

thank you for giving me more details. so ,being "Cited" represents any traffic ticket from the police.  so, i should choose [YES ] to this question and disclose this $20 fine. i was intented to hide this.

but i dont know how to response to their asking evidences of  "Information about your arrest(s)" and the "Information about arrest(s) or conviction(s) removed from your record",as both didnt apply to me.

Should i ignore them or what should i include as evidence to satisfy this ?

In Part 12, I would answer Yes to 23 and fill in the information in 29. I would also include it was a $20 ticket for parking too long in a spot or speeding 5 mph over the speed limit or whatever it was. It's small potatoes and they won't care but it's always good to include everything :)

You are filing under the 5-year residence eligibility.

If you were filing under the 3-year marriage eligibility, then you would have been required to submit evidence about your spouse/marriage.
