Financial burden seems to be moot because USC signed affidavit of support saying they will support beneficiary financially and the obligation will only end when the beneficiary has worked for or can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters of coverage, get their citizenship or passed away.

That's a non-sequitur.

I filed in Jan 2019, biometrics February, received EAD/AP combo card in April and now waiting for the interview to be scheduled.

And your AOS is being processed at the San Francisco USCIS office?

Wow, that's encouraging news. Because VJ states the AOS processing time for San Francisco as the highest in the United States, I assumed that the extra-long wait time applied to the EAD/AP combo card as well as the AOS itself. But if, as apparently happened in your case, the EAD/AP combo card really is available after a more "normal" wait time, then that's great news for us (filed in October and are hoping to get AP asap so we can return to China for a second wedding).

Got the interview notice yesterday. Our interview will be in san jose field office  on jan 27. It seems SF field office is assigning some of the cases either to Sacramento and San Jose. The speculation is my EAD/AP renewal triggered USCIS to schedule my interview. @AJCM theory is right. They don't want to lose their money if I skip ROC due to their own tardiness

hi everyone!
Our interview is January 24 in Santa Clara 😬😬

besides the letter that tell us what documents to bring, does anyone have any other references or lists of documents to take to the interview ??

also, is it a requirement to take a translator  if my husband isn’t fluent in English (he’s a Spanish Speaker)

A translator would be a wise precaution, if your partner cannot clearly express himself. I’ve read that if the officer feels they cannot communicate, they administer an English test.

this page seems reasonable on the document list

Hi :) Please update us with how the interview went. I just got notice that my interview is Feb 12 in Santa Clara too. And same situation, my husband doesn't really speak English. I applied at the SF office so that's kinda weird it's in Santa Clara... but anyways good luck!

There was a memo last summer that said USCIS was transferring some cases from highly backlogged offices to other offices (it's up to USCIS to do this, you can't request it) to help relieve the backlog.

There have been several reports over the last six months or so of cases being moved from SF to San Jose (that's the Santa Clara office) or (less commonly) Sacramento.

Oh wow okay, that makes sense. Well that may be why we got the interview so quick...? When they sent it over to Santa Clara it may have ended up on the top of the list. Thanks for the info!!
