Sf update:  Status changed in January to interview ready to be scheduled. Status changed in March 5 to interview scheduled. Letter received a week later and my interview will be first week of April. Hang in there everyone!

Can I just double check - your case changed into "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" in January 2018 and it changed into "Interview was scheduled" in March 2019?

Hello, yes. Actual updates i received were:

January 2018 - case ready to be scheduled for interview

March 2018 - case ready to be scheduled for interview (I dunno why the duplicate updates 🤷‍♂️)

March 2019 - interview scheduled

So I waited almost 16-17 months after filing for my interview to be scheduled.

-=ROC & Naturalization Timeline=-

January 25, 2021 - ROC application received

January 22, 2022 - Case transferred

January 16, 2022 - Naturalization application received

April 7, 2023 - ROC and Naturalization Interview

April 20, 2023 - Oath Ceremony scheduled

Congratulations.

New the SF AOS forum.  My case change to Case is ready to be scheduled for an Interview back in March 2019.  Now the long wait begins:D

Good luck to everybody

Wow. Just found this thread. Had no idea SF was super slow. I'm following the March 2019 filers thread (Filed March of 2019), had my biometrics taken last April 9 and was getting worried because my case status hasn't even updated to show that they received my fingerprints while others who have filed later than me has had their case status updated to ready to be scheduled for interview. But from reading this thread, I guess I have nothing really to worry about/nothing I can do but wait. It seems though the EAD/AP gets approved relatively quicker than the AOS

Also has anyone experienced travelling internationally on AP status? How was it? Is it risky to do this?

@iwir SF seems a lot slower than most cities in the US by many months. I'm seeing lots of interviews/approvals for people that filed months after us.

At what point does this become a financial burden for everyone?

I don't care if they got approved somewhere unless it's in SF. Financial burden seems to be moot because USC signed affidavit of support saying they will support beneficiary financially and the obligation will only end when the beneficiary has worked for or can be credited with 40 qualifying quarters of coverage, get their citizenship or passed away.

I'm fine with EAD/AP and I have moved on with my life. In fact I don't mind of waiting til our second anniversary so that we will get 10 years GC and don't have to file for ROC.

Sweet Jesus. What a "beautiful" wait game :)

I'm in the same boat. Filed for AOS/EAD/AP on July 31 (this year). Had my biometrics on September 6. Status changed to "Case is ready to be scheduled for the interview" on October 9. If I get my work permit by the end of this year I'll be the happiest.

Just found this thread. Looks like I'm going to be on this one for a while.

Just filed AOS package TODAY.

Since current address is Bay Area, assume my application will be sent to San Francisco, which I'm dreading because of the wait time.

Question for other San Francisco filers: are processing times for the EAD/AP card also significantly slower in San Francisco than other cities? Or are they at least processed at what's the normal time nationwide?

Another question: Has anyone had the experience of moving during the AOS process? My wife and I may be relocating from the Bay Area to the LA area early next year for work. I'm assuming if we do, then we should update USCIS with a change of address. Would they then move our application to the Los Angeles office?

You probably want to check this by putting your actual zip code into https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices . I'm not sure where the boundary between the SF and San Jose offices is (though the San Jose office isn't much faster, it is faster). Some cases can get sent to a different office as part of a USCIS plan to speed up processing announced this summer, but the web site will show the one that normally handles your address.

The weird run of people here with interviews scheduled getting EAD approved (happened to my wife  in San Diego) is probably a coincidence; EAD/AP for AOS from K-1s are processed by NBC in Missouri for everyone.

If you don't have an interview scheduled yet, they'd move your case to the field office that handles your new address. There are several LA-area field offices (LA, LA County, San Fernardo Valley, Santa Ana, and San Bernardino) which all have different processing times.
