With the NOA2 and NVC timelines slipping, I was wondering how soon I can book the SLEC medical after NOA2?  My future step daughter's 15th birthday is January 12.  I am expecting the NOA2 this month but I thought I need the MNL# to book medical.  With NVC taking 6 to 8 weeks to assign the number we couldn't book the medical until after she turns 15 and the price goes up.  Can SLEC be booked with just the NOA2 in hand?

SLEC is walk-in, first come, first served ... no booking.  ;)   And NO you can't do it with just the NOA2 .. you NEED the MNL#

yes ... expect one month more of waiting after the NOA2 before  you have the MNL#    (start calling a couple weeks after receiving the NOA2 in the mail)

Thanks Hank.  I did read through everything.  I was hoping to find a loop hole.  It is only 6000 more pesos but I was trying to find anything positive while we wait.  I will just relax and see how it unfolds.  People are waiting over a month for their MNL# after waiting 6 months for NOA2.  It is amazing how quickly things changed from when we filed!  NOA1 to NOA2 went from 3 months to 6 months and NVC went from 10 days to 60 days.  Oh well.  I'll be in Manila in 24 days so we will get through this.

If you have time to kill go back to right after Yolanda tore through the Philippines.  Everything was expedited at USCIS.. this is when the 60-90 day approvals started, NVC was quick to get the MNL# ... everything was expedited to the embassy.  Then you hit a wall, no appointments available at the embassy  ... for MONTHS,  people were running scan programs to watch for an appointment opening on their profile dashboards.

When we went through USCIS was upwards of 6 months, 2-4 weeks for NVC, and if you stayed on track were done with the interview about a month after that .. Not too different from now in most ways.   Visa was something like $350, they dropped  the price 10 days after we went through the embassy.

They dropped the price?  I have never heard of the Government doing that.  We will just be patient.  It would be nice to save the 6000 php but it was more of a symbolic victory than an actual one.  Now I need to come up with another end date goal.  Valentine's Day may be tough.  Maybe Memorial Day?  It will be warm here so the transition will be more gradual.  I think I will shoot for the end of May.  That will almost be 1 year from filing!

Don't worry the drop the price on one thing and raise it on another.

SLEC is just another rip off, you have to pay US prices for Philippines Doctors...........

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Posted

Then another rip off is the CFO they shake down

The ultimate scam played by the Government of Philippines is to make their citizens to pay a Travel Tax to leave the Philippines, last I checked it was around 1620 php

They know the citizen is leaving and it's shakedown time........

Travel tax is paid by all even if they are not emigrating ..

CFO was created to combat human trafficking  and you spend more on a burger and fried for what the cost is.

SLEC is actually a MAYO Clinic facility.  They are state of the art.  $350 US for all they are doing there is a bargain.  I paid more than that just for a couple shots here.

Yes SLEC is a Mayo affiliate... not easy to obtain.

Some have little respect for the Philippines

I noticed!  I love it there and I love the people.  It is certainly a poor country and a different culture but I love it there every trip I make.  My 5th trip this year is in 24 days!

I was hoping to bring them back this time.  The odds are very low considering that we haven't gotten the NOA2 yet!  LOL
