Hey all.

My POE is fast approaching I was just wondering will they ask me how much money I am travelling with and will it be a problem if I don't have much, I have about 300$ I get paid the week after arriving. Will this be a problem. Other than the sealed envelope and passport obviously is there anything else that i require?

Thanks in advance

JFK was my K-1 POE too. I highly doubt that money will even be brought up, so I really wouldn't worry about it. I arrived at the booth, greeted the CBP officer and handed over my sealed envelope. He was actually in a good mood and asked me what I've got here for him. So I said it's the envelope for the K-1 visa. He just said alright and that they don't process those at the booths and asked me to follow him to the secondary inspection area.

There, all I had to do was wait about 10 minutes for the second CBP officer to call my name. She just asked me when the wedding date is and that was it.

You'll be just fine, I think I had $20 and 50 Euro on me when I traveled. I already sent everything over before I traveled.

My (now) husband's POE was JFK when he came on his K1.  He was never asked anything about money.  He travelled over with about 50 pounds in his wallet and nothing in his bank as we had already transferred his funds to my account in the US to prepare for "closing" his UK account.  He wasn't even asked about our wedding date or anything.  They took his packet, put him in the system, and told him "welcome to America" then sent him on his way.  I would say be prepared to answer anything but don't stress it too much.  From what I have read, JFK seems to be a fairly easy and pleasant POE.  Good luck on your move!

"Waiting is a sign of true love and patience.  Anyone can say "I love you", but not everyone can wait and prove it's true"

12/21/16 - I-129f packet sent to Texas

12/23/16 - I-129f packet received

1/5/17- NOA1 receipt date

1/10/17 - NOA1 Hardcopy received
