EAD card is recognised by TSA as valid identification.

Colorado ID without the black bar is compliant. The state's FAQ declares a license with the black banner is not valid for commercial air travel.

Thanks for the info! Never knew EAD is a valid identification for domestic flight.

I'm glad they haven't been enforcing the rule with black banner on DL on me.

I know that Colorado is compliant, but why does it still say on my id about “not for federal identification....bla bla”? For my understanding if it’s compliant it shouldn’t have had that black bar with that “not federal identification...”. Correct me if I’m wrong please. And thanks for your reply.

Your EAD card is definitely compliant (and also proof of status)

TSA won't be enforcing the requirement for real ID until at least January 22, 2018. States with an extension (not Colorado as it's already compliant) may be good until October 2020. But they keep pushing back the dates at the last minute, so who knows for sure. Either way, IDs that are explicitly "not valid for federal identification" will likely be rejected next year.

I see. I thought it's been enforced, since it's published in the document. Alrighty, will take my EAD for back up then

I am currently in AOS process after marrying US citizen afrer getting K1 fiancée visa. Recently I received my Colorado State ID with the black bar on the upper left, which says :not for federal identification and voting “ . Can i use this id to board the plane within us? Also can i use my EAD card for the same purpose?

Thanks)!

i live in Colorado (Boulder) so I am sharing the actual thing that happened to me.

I got state id and had the same line marked like yours. I went to DIA and they said show us another form of ID coz the ID is not acceptable. Luckily I had my passport with me.

Your current state ID is good for bar (hahahahha). But you can fly with your passport 'coz TSA won't check visa (they don't even bother to check any page other than biographic page)

take ur passport, take ur marriage cert (get your EAD with you incase) and you are good. I know from my experience (3 months ago) that the TSA at DIA won't let u go through with the ID with a black line.

Thanks for your sharing , i gonna take all my ids and NOA for my green card. It sucks though(
