Hi,

Im currently attempting to complete my I-485 form for AOS. I am from the UK and my now wife is American. (I travelled over on a K-1 visa).

In section 2 of the AOS I-485 it asks if I am the 'Principal Applicant' or whether I am the 'Derivative Applicant'?    In my situation how do I know which one I am? If any?

Thankyou

Okay, that’s great thanks.

If I’m the Principal Applicant though....where would I find the ‘Receipt number of underlying perition’ that it asks for in question 3?

All we have, we think, is my wife’s receipt number which is a ‘WAC’ confirmation number.

Many thanks

The instructions are quite vague, and talk through YouTube videos are as well.

From research I’ve done, I think you are right and the receipt number is found at the top of my I-129. As well as my I-797.

Im now trying to locate the ‘Priority date from Underlying petition’ date now which accompanies the ‘Receipt number’ on the form. :/

Any ideas on this section by any chance?
