Medical insurance

Hello vj

I am inthe us since a week and I would like inquire about the medical insurance.

to be nedically insured in the US what I have to do? does my wife need to add me to here medical plan or I have to do this me myself.

Can anyone here advise me how do this? and what it takes to be medically insured.It is new country for me and different climate change for me , I am even not yet get used to time difference.

Does your wife have health insurance for herself? Generally it would be cheapest for her to add you to her existing plan, though it wouldn't hurt to shop around and compare insurance prices. You can shop on the federal health care market place, or through private insurance, though the latter is generally more expensive (but it's all relative to your own situation).

 

Adding a spouse to a pre-existing insurance plan is usually considered a qualifying life event, so she should be able to add you at any point in time. Sometimes a social security number might be needed in order to add you to the insurance plan, but that isn't always the case. I would have her contact her plan administrator for more details about adding you to her insurance plan.

we not yet married and we do not have a marriage certificate, but we do have  a marriage license so for my fiancee to add me to here insurance plan do we have to be married and have  a marriage license? I did applied for SSA and it will be home in two days I think.

so what do you think about this situation? should we wait till get married and have marriage certificate or apply for medical insurance now?

If she plans on adding you to her insurance policy, yes you will need to show proof of being married (marriage certificate).

Obtaining a driver's license can vary by the state you live in. Some (I think most) states require that you at least have the EAD on hand before you are able to receive a driver's license. Some states are not as strict, I would contact your local DMV and ask them.
