Emergency AP

I called BCIS National Customer Service Center about expediting my AP and she told me that I have to write a letter to the BSIC National Benefit Center explaining my reasoning and it would have to fit under one of the reasons (humanatarian, etc.) I asked her if I could make an Infopass appointment to obtain this also, if this was the only way and she told me yes. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Canada
Timeline

I made an Infopass appointment for emergency AP (after I had already sent in the AP application for regular AP) and got my AP travel documents that same day.

The reason I needed to return to Canada was because my Mom was in the hospital and I needed to arrange a care facility upon her release from the hospital (I had Power of Attorney for my Mom). I needed a letter from her doctor stating her condition and the reason it was necessary for me to return to Canada (the doctor faxed me the letter).

Good luck.

Same thing with me. My mom was sick and I needed to go back to my home country, so I made an Infopass Appointment. I brought with me all the faxes from my mom's doctor explaining why I needed to go and hospital certificates stating her conditions.

It didn't work because my case was already approved and I didn't know it, because my status hadn't been updated online...so I got the stamp in my passport instead of the AP! :)

But the lady at the office was VERY nice, she told me that she would have given me the AP if my case hadn't been approved, because she could see from the documents I had that my mom's situation really required my assistance. I was able to go back and luckily my mom's doing a lot better, now. (L)

If you have to travel because of an emergency, make an Infopass Appointment and bring all the evidence with you (faxes from doctors, etc.) to prove that you really NEED to go.

Good luck!
