i can't believe an article from the root has been posted here in cehst and it wasn't me.

 

seems to be a yet another sad situation where rich/influential white men are allowed to abuse drugs and people with little to no push back from law enforcement, zero consequences. sounds like that 'privilege' i often talk about..

I heard tell of a rich famous black guy in LA that killed his wife and her boyfriend and walked cause they played the black card.  OJ something or another.

Or the millions in taxes Sharpton doesn't pay

i say privilege, you say oj, sharpton, and obama. i can't even. got anything to say on the op? did they find a dead drug addicted prostitute in sharpton/oj/obama's house and the root is trying to blame this poor former republican turned democratic donor??

It was clear I was pointing out privilege is more related to money fame and power than race . I did not read the original article because  it was not posted by a black person and that is cultural appropriation

privilege is related to money and fame, that's true. but it's also related to race - white males having the upper hand. the examples you gave kind of back my argument more than they do yours.

I have a problem with blanket statements. To assume that because I am white I have had certain  privileges that someone who is not white may or may not have is ludicrous and very racist.

 

It would be like saying because someone is black they are more likely predisposed to being a criminal

look. i know you don't understand the concept of white privilege and i'm not going to try, yet again, to explain what it is and how it's not at all racist - and imo only denying it's existence is ludicrous. but why do you think that even though a dead man and drug paraphernalia were found, along with witnesses and motive, etc, ed buck has not been charged with anything? just his money?

Sure, it is not racist to make a blanket generalization based on race.  No matter how it is twisted, generalizing, or profiling anyone based on race is inherently racist.
