What I have been hearing is that the WaPo has been paying accusers to "come forward" and bring and accusation against Moore.

All I am saying is that these accusations are just to convenient to come out right now before the election. Why didn't they come out months ago during the primary? I honestly think this is all drummed up by the Left to try and get this seat BAMN, just like what they tried to do to Trump last year.

I am not quite bought into that. I wonder how it could be known a 32 year old high profile DA could be messing with underage girls all those years and no one ever came goward.

That's what got me as well especially if he has been in public office this whole time. This just reeks of political motivation for me and I don't like it.

I tend to avoid grand conspiracies etc...

 

I think the far more likely scenario is Weinstein's media attention has created a massive snow all effect. Women who prior never felt comfortable coming forward are starting to feel more comfortable.

 

Of course yes though it could all be one big planned conspiracy. All 7 (or 9? I forget) could all be colluding together...

I am not into gran conspiracies either but that doesn't mean I won't entertain it for a minute or two to get the facts. That being said this just reeks to me in all honesty and I have tried to dig down to get the truth. I found it funny that his attorney is basically calling all this BS and made up, I want to see if they give up the yearbook for verification.

 

If it is true then he needs to step down.

The yearbook should be verified, of course. I've read some claims that they "lifted" the signature....but a quick examination can show that while it is similar they aren't exact copies.

 

But as I've said previously in the subject...even if ONE is made up (say the one brought up with Allred's support), it is an even bigger leap to say they all are. Some may be "jumping on the bandwagon" but that doesn't mean they are all false.

 

It only takes one of them being true for him to be guilty enough to ruin his career.

It only takes one of them being false to cast reasonable doubt upon all the others.  I'll gladly eat crow pie, when some real evidence comes out or someone accuses him of a crime that hasn't had the statute of limitations expire and he is charged by the police.

There is already reasonable doubt for all of them, especially from a certain sector of America.

 

As I said, even if we took an extremely conservative risk of falsehood (50%), the chances of them all being false is still obscenely low.

 

Edit: I'd also say that if the very first accusations turns out false that is far more worrisome for the others than if the 4th, 5th or 6th or whatever turns out false.

Not necessarily true, something being false has no influence on the chance of something else being false, as these are independent accusations and have confounding political motivations that could further skew any mathematical calculations .  I believe the math theory you keep presenting here is wrong and I'll have a mathematician's response for you tomorrow, as I am by no means a mathematician.  Either way, for or against, I'll post their response.

If one being false has no bearing on the others, than your point about it only takes one to "cast doubt" shouldn't be true since the one false statement wouldn't impact the others.

 

I agree that my assessment is a very basic one. I'm using the most simplistic statistics. You won't get any better from a statistician unless we want to make assumptions about the chances of them being co-dependent. It is much simpler and easier to assume independence.

 

I would stand by what I said earlier though. While I agree they may be co-dependent u find that far less likely than they are independent. I don't have any math to back that you, just logic and, I admit, assumptions.

 

And even if they WERE codependent I would say the chances go up as more accusations are added on. So again if the first accusations proved to be false, I'd be more worried about the others (higher risk for the "bandwagon effect"). If the 5th turns out false - how could the 5th accusations have impacted ones from BEFORE it? It would have to be the "conspiracy" explanation for that, which is probably the least likely of any scenario.
