Moore is actively running for election and has multiple individual accusers as well as even more people who can corroborate their claims.

 

At the time if Clinton's reelection he had had a single case brought against him, and it had already been thrown out in court (by a republican judge). Even the republican party didn't see it as a major issue during the election campaign. There were witnesses that gave conflicting accounts to the woman's story.

 

Much of what we know about Clinton came up AFTER he was elected. That is VERY different from before an election.

 

I'm not condoning Clinton. I think he is sleazy and if he tried to run for office now he wouldn't have my support for just about anything. 

 

However, at the time his name was on a ballot it was different.

 

Right now, people have no excuse to say no to this current creeper.

 

Then again I find the situation now to be quite similar to the situation last November and we all know how that turned out. If you want another example of someone getting elected and people "turning a blind eye" you really don't need to go back 20 years to Clinton. You can go back one year and look at our current President. Far more fitting example of people adjusting their moral standard to fit their chosen candidate.

Alright great, you can talk about what leaders did 20 years ago. We could also have a discussion about whether or not Clinton (Bill) would have been elected in 2016, but that would just be speculation and somewhat pointless.

 

I'd rather talk about what leaders are doing now, or even just within the last year. In the "relay race" of promoting sexual predators, the baton has VERY clearly been passed to the right. Did the left have it in the 90's? Sure, but they've clearly handed it over.

The whole Moore thing I am a bit obsessed with. I am amazed he has not resigned yet. The Gov of Ala just said she would vote for him.

 

So whats the game plan here. He gets elected then resigns and the Gov appoints a pub ?

How long before this seat comes up for re-election?  According to me math, this seat will next be contested in 2020.  Maybe they are going to go forward and let the chips fall where they may and wait for the next election.  Isn’t that how Elizabeth Warren got in?

It's a special election. Not sure when it comes due again. Surely they are not going to proceed like nothing happened

Sessions last election was 2014, so I believe this election would only serve to fill out his remaining term which would end in 2020.  It is a lot like Scott Brown who won Ten Kennedy’s seat in 2010 in a special election, then lost to Elizabeth Warren two years later.
