Affidavits Questions

Hi Everyone!

Hopefully finishing up the joint I-130 and I-485 packet to send off in a few weeks.. Just a quick question on the affidavits to submit as evidence for a bonafide marriage.  We're planning to get affidavits from our employers in the US, my parents (US Citizens), and a good friend (also US Citizen) to add as supplementary evidence.

My question is... Is it acceptable to have these just signed? Or do we need to have them notarized and/or witnessed? I think it would be quite a huge ask for some of these people to go to a notary to get them signed, but we'll do it if it is important!

Thoughts?? What has everyone else included in their packets?

Thanks!!

I only have one and it was notarized just so it looks more convincing. However, a lot of people say these are considered secondary evidence/very little significance, hence you could concentrate on other evidences to strengthen your case.

Thanks! I know they're not *super* important, but we're just trying to get as much as possible..

We're what we are also submitting:

- Proof that we live at the same address via Government ID's  (i own the house, so we don't rent or share ownership or rental tenancy)

- Joint Bank Account Statement

- Joint Utility Statements

- Life Insurance naming each of us as beneficiaries

- Wills naming each of us as beneficiaries

- 30+ Pictures over several years

- Plane Tickets / Travel Itineraries

- Copies of emails sent to each other over several years

- Copies of cards from family members addressed to both of us

I hope that's enough :)

You should be fine with not getting it notarized

Sorry to piggy back on this thread SnowFox505, I am also completing my AOS package (spouse) and had couple questions about the i864.

  • Even though I qualify to use i864EZ, there is no problem using the regular I864 correct?
  • Under Part 6, Question 19 where it asks you for most recent transcript, do I need to submit my W2 if I am providing IRS transcript? Based on the instructions, it looks like I do not have to submit W2s if I am using IRS transcripts instead of tax return copy. What is confusing me is the fact that my 2016 Tax transcript is based on married filing jointly (I am the sole income though), and so does that mean I would need to submit W2s for 2016? My 2015 and 2014 tax transcript is an individual filing so I would not need my W2 there right? Hope that made sense...

Use whichever you prefer.

It is either tax returns + W2s/1099s  OR tax transcripts for a normal single filing, but you are correct that you should submit your W2s with your tax transcripts to prove your individual income for 2016.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.
