Are we getting the runaround?

we are here in Bridgetown Barbados.

they keep saying they will send a letter with interview date. It's confusing bc they say we are going through IV immigration visa here in Barbados but all along it has been the NIV non immigrantion visa.

My Fiancé is a Cuban National .

They sent me a letter 2 weeks ago saying we can apply where we like as long as it is convenient for us. This is why we came here.

You can interview at any US consulate or embassy in the world.  It doesn't matter where you are from.  It is normal for the embassy/consulate to sent a letter out to tell you that they have received the paperwork and that you can schedule the interview.

Did you list Barbados as the local consulate that you will be using?  That is where the NVC will send the petition.  Maybe the petition was sent to the wrong embassy?

The K-1 is technically a non-immigrant visa but it is handled like an immigrant visa.

The first DS-160 was to Havana.

everything was cancelled.

then we filed DS-160 but did not make a payment bc it got complicated. I sent an email to Barbados before we traveled . They said people can file where they like.

Then we filed DS-160 with Barbados .

they sent a notification letter having received the DS-160.

Now we are here.

they say we are in their system & to wait for an official letter w/ interview date .

girl going from outside to inside & back says that is what we are waiting for & if time is of the essence to send info on that as well which I did. So we are playing the waiting game.

thank you
