So I finally got my act together and got my I- 751 package ready to send in, and I forgot to bring it with me to work today to mail on my lunchbreak. Dang. So tomorrow is the day. Hallelujah!

Thanks to you all who have contributed to this particular forum, the lists of ideas for evidence were invaluable. When I get home today I will post what we included in our packet to 'pay it forward". :)

Hi Cassie!

Great to hear you got your package ready to mail. It's quite a bit of work isn't it?!

Wish you speedy processing. Keep us updated.

I'm done with biometrics and awaiting the approval ... but I guess TSC is slow and the wait long.

Best of luck Cas

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

You and I are in the same boat -- mine got there on April 20 (I sent it Express Mail on the 18th, but TSC didn't pick it up when it arrived on the 19th for some reason). There's nothing much to do but wait until the NOA1. The check clearing won't tell you much of anything, other than the fact that they have your $$$.

BTW, they did cash my check today. Is that worth adding to my signature? Maybe I should take a poll . . . .

Meh

May I suggest playing darts or biting nails? Both require precision and thus deep concentration, which makes time go by quickly.

I am only wondering when they cash our check because I hear that they put a number on the back of the check and I can use that number to register and get updates as to when they do an update on our paper work or when we are approved. Believe me it was hard saving up that money with all the sales that were going on so I am not happy about giving money away, but I look at it as an investment into our future. No matter how many shoe sales I miss :whistle::blink:

You are right. I sent mine on April 17th, they received it on the 19th, and my check was cashed on the 20th(But it showed up on my bank account online on the 23rd). It has the case #, but I think it's not in their Case Status Search system yet. I am getting error:

- Case Status Retrieval Failed

- This Receipt Number cannot be found at this time in this automated system. Please check your case receipt number to see if it is correct. If you have questions or concerns about your case status, please contact Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283.

For some reason, the process isn't like the I-130, where you can pick up the case number off the back of the check and plug it in to the online status system. As has been noted in a number of threads, you have to wait for your NOA1 to get the case number. From what I understand, we should be getting a biometric receipt within the next couple of weeks, followed shortly by a notice with the biometrics appointment date. The NOA1 should come somewhere around the one-month mark after filing . . . . :clock:

Apologies to the OP here for furthering the thread hijack. :innocent:
