Jenn's question re: social customs in Saudi Arabia reminded me of a fantastic magazine anyone can get.

Saudi Aramco World is put out bi monthly by Saudi Aramco and has delightful and insightful articles about the arab and muslim world. I've been getting it for years and there is always something new and interesting. The articles are well researched and the pictures are beeeeeeeeautiful. I look forward to getting it and wish it came more often than every 2 months.

And no, I don't work for Saudi Aramco and they're not paying me to do this I just think it's a fantastic resource for those of us who aren't from a ME background. Heck, even my husband enjoys it and learns stuff from it.

I also receive this magazine. We got it in my home growing up (my grandfather was an Aramco employee and my Mom spent her childhood in Saudi) and the pictures and articles fascinated me. They also include a great calendar each year that includes the Gregorian and Islamic dates.

thanks for that link, I am definitley subscribing. it looks like a really interesting and high quality magazine. I also used the link to search teh archives and found all kinds of cool past articles about music and food, etc .
