My wife and her 2 K-1 kids' EAD cards will be expiring in late March of 2018. Still haven't received green cards. Anyone know the process for extending the EAD beyond expiration? All I could find is the USCIS is automatically renewing the EAD but the criteria as far as dates don't work for us. Thanks for any replies

I think you can use the regular I-765 form?

On the first page where it says "I'm applying for" choose the last option instead of the first one.

05/24/2017 Entered the US on a J1 visa

10/10/2017 We got married!

10/27/2017 AOS Package sent via USPS - Chicago Lockbox

10/30/2017 Package delivered 

10/31/2017 Priority Date

11/07/2017 Received email and text notifications about all 4 forms

11/14/2017 Received hard copies of all 4 NOAs

11/21/2017 Received biometrics appointment notice scheduled for 11/29

12/15/2017 Interview notice - interview is scheduled for January 19th! Holy #$%^ that's less than 3 months from PD!

01/02/2018 EAD + AP approved

01/16/2018 Combo card delivered

01/19/2018 Interview - recommended for approval

01/22/2018 New card is being produced :dance:

What do you mean, the criteria as far as dates won't work for you?

as long as you apply for the extension within the 90 days immediately preceding the expiration of the GC - they are automatically extended for 180 days (as you wait for the extension to process). The extension is filed using reg. i765 and choosing the renewal option.

Thanks for the clarification.  I mis-spoke in my OP.  I read on the USCIS website about automatic renewal which I misunderstood.  Thanks again for your reply.
