I consider myself pretty educated on this process because we had to wait a while before we applied and I constantly read articles and guidelines on doing this. Everything I have read you don't send in your fiances birth certificate just yours but they have to have it with them for their interview. Well, now that is keep up with stuff quite regularly on here I'm seeing a lot of people saying thing like they forgot to send their fiances but haven't really seen anyone respond to it. Am I just being paranoid, were others just sending to much? I'm just curious as to if I'm going to get a RFE for this...I'm going to feel pretty dumb if I do because my fiance told me to send a copy and I was like no just keep that for your interview....

***Also, be advised I made a copy of every single page of his passport and sent it with the petition***

Yes u need a copy of all pages of the petitioner passport that will cost a RFE if even 1 page is missing i even sent front and back covers of passport book inside and out.

The beneficiary's birth certificate is not needed at this time.

Nor is their passport unless you are using it to show you have met in the last 2 years.

This is incorrect. Passport isn't required. It can be used for proof of meeting, but it's not required and you don't need every page. Just the biographical page and entry/exit stamps if you are using it for proof.

UK no problem

other high fraud countries they as for one at USCIS first stage so this is all so "country dependent" and all who plan to apply need to know if their country is considered high fraud

for any of the rest of you applying this is the list from USCIS

According to USCIS, the petitioner has to send EITHER his/her birth certificate or passport (all pages) to show proof of citizenship, among other options, but not both of them. As for the beneficiary, the birth certificate isn't needed at this stage (it will be at the interview).

Also, if you want to show proof of having met in the last two years, both the petitioner and/or the beneficiary can use their passport, although only the biographical page and the stamps, in this case, are asked for.

For what I know these are the general "rules". It may be different though for beneficiaries from high risk or specific countries.

The requirements of petitioner proof of citizenship or LPR status is the same regardless of country.  Either send a copy of your entire passport, a copy of your birth certificate, or a copy of your citizenship certificate.  (As an lpr can't petition for a fiance... but for a spouse or child they'd send a copy of their green card.)

The amount of relationship evidence will vary.

The petitioner can use a copy of their birth certificate (front and back) or a copy of their passport  (every page). I sent both. But a copy of the beneficiary's passport is not needed.

Yeah, I just did it to serve the purpose of both proof of meeting and proof of citizenship just in case they did want it.

I was about to say I never read that and didn't think it was needed as long as I provided my birth certificate.

I'm not sure whether OP is the citizen or the intending immigrant.  I believe that either the USC's passport OR birth certificate OR certificate of naturalization is required to show that they are indeed a US citizen.

It does seem that the foreign fiance brings everything to the interview (although I'm sure that lots of people front-load the application with copies of all the documents they will eventually show the originals of at the interview).

I am the USC and petitioner. Yes, I've sent my birth certificate and my fiance has his at the ready for when he finally gets his interview. I was just noticing on here a lot of people mentioning sending it in with the initial petition. I was curious if anyone actually got a RFE if not. I think it would be pretty crappy to RFE when it's clearly stated that it isn't needed at this stage.
