Is there any reason for the disparity in K1 Dates between California and Vermont

Is anyone aware of having their application moved from one service center to another? Vermont is far ahead of California and Texas so I’m wondering if they ever even things out?

If you are applying for a K1 visa it will go to California....unless there is a criminal record or significant issue.....then it will be transferred. The Dallas center is just a lock box - they send visas to where they go.

CSC handles all I-129Fs for a K-1 visa. There are only very few exceptions for transfers, usually involving additional criminal background checks via Vermont.

Ah well, I guess hoping to transfer there is a bust then. I have security clearance here in Australia for aviation so criminal background checks aren’t gonna be a thing

While being sent to Vermont is by no means a sign of an impending denial in itself, it's very likely not something you would want. It usually has to do with the petitioner's criminal record...the big one being AWA crimes (sexual offenses against a minor).

 

In my experience, I haven't seen a causation nor correlation between past security clearances and these background checks. I've seen people with multiple government security clearances get held up for an extended period of time, and those with no clearances breeze right through. The opposite occurring is the case as well.
