Hello,

There are two options

The K-1 as you talk about and then the spouse visa where you are married before you file the petition.

However you HAVE to meet each other before filing the K-1 and the CR-1 (spouse visa) you have to be married and there fore also have met.

So you guys will have to find a way to meet up first.

As Georgia16 says, you do have to meet.  They require meeting at least once within the last two years prior to filing the petition.

PHILIPPINES ONLY!!!  CFO (Commission on Filipinos Overseas) INFO - Can't leave home without it!

If you haven't met in person your K-1 will be denied.

If you haven't met in person your K-1 will be denied.  You certainly can apply for the visa but meeting is a basic requirement.  If you don't meet the requirements the petition will be denied.

The only exceptions are major illness or religious reasons for not meeting.  Either will have to be proved.

Well you can apply for a tourist visa, but you will need to prove that you have strong ties to Algeria (having a stable job, owning property, ect) in order to be approved for it.

Could you meet in a 3rd country? There are some Caribbean nations that allow Algerians to visit without needing a visa. Though the best option is to find a way for her to visit you in Algeria, especially if you plan on getting married later on. Family acceptance is fairly important in MENA countries.

If you are going through the visa process and will be interviewing in Casablanca, Morocco, join us over at the

I concur - try to meet in a third country. You will not get a K-1 visa since the I-129F requires meeting in person and showing proof of that meeting.

A work schedule, financial capability, family situation back home, etc. will not waive the requirement to meet first. Somebody's got to make a hard decision on how to proceed.

I got what you said but unfortunately there is no way around it.

You will I'll have to meet prior to filing for any visa.

You can maybe meet up in Mexico or Canada (I don't know about visa for you, you will have to look into that) but it does not have to be in the US or your country.
