I recently received the approvals for the I-129F application that I sent in May. The letter state the federal

notice type: Approval Notice

valid from 11/02/2017 to 03/01/2018

what does the above means? Does it mean that she needs to get interviewed before the 03/01/2018 , or she needs to fly before that date ends.

Moereover, my fiancée is currently working abroad and she has a project that will come into completion by June 2018. My question is if she set her immigration interview by January and get approved on the same month, can she still wait till June 2018 before flying to the US.

How long would her visa be valid before it expires to fly here In the US.

Appreciate any input

Thank you guys

The NOA2 approval validity means that you must schedule the interview before the 03/01/2018 date.

The visa expires 6 months after the medical exam. If she can, I would wait to do the medical and interview until late January or early February. 2018, so that she would still have an extra few weeks before the visa expires to enter the USA after June 2018.

Wow, thank you for a positive advice. That’s exactly what she has in mind to wait till January to schedule for her interview. In that case she can fly by June.

After the marriage how long do you think she needs to wait for her GC be released. After which, can she still leave the country and work outside.

After she arrives in the US and you get married, then you will need to start the Adjustment of Status process. The green card can take anywhere from 6 to 12+ months to receive, depending on how fast your local office is processing AOS applications. Some are much faster than others. During this time, she can also apply for Employment Authorization and Advanced Parole, which will allow her to work and travel outside of the US without the green card. EAD/AP are currently taking around 3-4 months to be processed. Basically, you are looking at a time period of at least a few months after entering the US were she will not be able to work or travel outside of the US, which is one of the downsides of the K1 visa.

Yes, I remember when I first came here I was advised not to leave the country till I get my GC and to travel outside the country for a long period of time as it will hinder my application for naturalization

as as soon as she gets here, how easy is it to apply for marriage certificate

The requirements for the marriage license vary by state, but it's usually pretty simple. My husband and I just had to show 2 different forms of ID, fill out a marriage license application and pay a small fee. We then had a courthouse marriage a few days later and were able to order copies of our marriage certificate online which arrived in 2 days.

Just a small note: If the GC interview is waived at the NBC (prior to field office processing) it can be much faster. I got mine in 3.5 months and it's not that uncommon for K1's. Some field offices have short time to interview,  so it's possible to get an interview in 4 months at those few offices.

Also processing times for EAD/AP is closer to 120-150 days (4-5 months) right now actually,  and unfortunately. So starting the AOS quickly is advisable if planning on working/travelling.
