I am from Algeria and

i am architect with 10 years experience.

They are often more forgiving for professionals who can find decent jobs - which it sounds like you are so not having an affidavit of support should hopefully not be a problem.

Have you looked into into being able to use your degree in the US? (Some professions need local licensing etc there, I’m not sure about architecture)

Fyi its not “official” for DV but if asking to see see bank statements they will usually use the poverty guideline as a rule of thumb.  For a family of 5, that is currently a little under $29k.

i have a another question

this affidavit should be only filled and signed by sponsor and sent to me or sponsor should finish some steps there in US before to send me??

Sponsor fills the I-134 and sends it directly to you. The form should be accompanied by a copy of the sponsor’s government issued ID such as GC or passport, and W2 or 1099 - whichever is applicable to the sponsor.

do you know if someone has work visa in US can sponsor me ????

thanks.

According to alllaw it must be a citizen or LPR.

Someone on a work visa is not there permanently so any undertaking of support can’t mean much anyway.

I simply repeated what a legal site said re the USC/LPR requirement.

but think about it.

This form can be used to “sponsor” B1/B2 visitors too. If an H1 sponsors someone coming for a 2 week visit,  that’s one thing. If an H1 (or L or whatever) sponsors an immigrant, how much weight do you suppose a CO might put on that? If the H1 loses his job and has to leave the US a month after a diversity visa immigrant arrives, then the affidavit is worthless a year down the line or whatever.

you can try of course but I can’t see it being very successful. That’s just my opinion.

I understand.

They can use anything they want, there is no hard and fast rule, but the poverty guideline is what has been reported as being used when they ask to see funds (this is also the income the sponsor has to show, in addition to what they need for their own family).
