Hello all,

So weird case (seems everything is weird in our file from the RFE we got to even now...).

The consulate has requested from me a proof of citizenship. I am very surprised and perplexed what is going on: we submitted all this with the I-129f.

What is going on? I resent my passport page - which anyhow is also sent when I send packet3. What is this mess!? Anyone had these issues?!

Just wondering why everything is so complicated for us :(

No, we didn't have this issue. I would resend ALL passport pages and a copy of your birth certificate. The original copy should have been good enough but they could be double checking the document or they lost that page of your file. When submitting for a K1, the copies need to be of all pages in the passport - this only happens with the initial K1. I wouldn't stress too much.

Did you send copies of ALL passport pages? Or just the bio?

I think we only sent the first page ... but if the petition was approved aren't we passed this stage - why does the consulate come back with this?

The worse is you can't talk to anyone so I send back the first page of the passport, no one confirmed if it's sufficient or if they need anything else. I am just waiting for I don't even know what at this point - another random issue I guess.  This whole process is extremely frustrating! I don't know what to do with myself and I can't even talk to anyone - just send emails to obtain a response days later. So I guess I will have to resend all pages again! I just don't know. Why can't they clearly indicate what they need. (Birth certificate is not applicable since I am not born in Canada....)
Sorry for venting a little but I am so lost and aggravated and sad and everything you want... :(

I understand. This is the most tedious thing I've gone through in my life and nothing made me happier than becoming a citizen so that I NEVER have to worry about any of this again.

Yeah, I would send all the pages, to satisfy their request of information and put it behind you. It's possible they could have lost the original page you sent... it would not be unheard of, really

You say you weren't born in Canada - if you have citizenship there, maybe send over your citizenship papers, etc?

I know a USC who was born overseas and naturalized as a child and applied for K1 and her fiance was told he was "ineligible" and there was some weird whatever about her citizenship she had to get cleared up first.

I had problems getting a passport once - I was newly divorced and they wanted to see my ex-husbands citizenship papers and I was like....what does that have to do with MY passport? But regardless, I sent them and got it done.

Trust me - we all get it. We've all been there and are still in process or have gone through it. It's frustrating. If they need more, they'll ask for it. Try not to read too much into it - it will drive you crazy.

Congratulations! I've noticed that we have had similar timelines, and we also have had alot problems so far (from NVC mostly...). When you scheduled your interview date were you able to see what other dates were available?? we will hopefully be doing this soon and we were curious as to what dates were left. Our status says ready on CEAC as of today.

Hi,

Basically I followed the recommendations here and the min they updated my file I sent packet 3 (I sent it 3 times)... the third time it worked.

As for the interviews, when I logged in there was 3 dates available to choose from all wed in Dec. Hope it helps and sorry for the late response.

Hey!

When doing the  DS-160,  Is a digital photo required for that, as I am about to start it. And what is the difference between a passport/document number and the passport book number?

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes you need to upload a digital photo. I got a new passport photo and paid a little extra so they also gave me a digital photo that fits the requirements.

Passport number is the actual number and the passport book number is listed on p. 3 above bar code for Canadians... other passports may or not have it.

Oh perfect. Thank you so much.

One last question, if you know - for the last 5 visits to the USA, does that include when you were travelling to another country and were transit in USA or is it for personal travel to the USA?
