Good morning!

I have a few questions about the K-1 visa:

I am desiring to to file the petition for my fiancé in December. However, I am visiting him again in February. Should I wait until then to file or can my fiancé present this additional evidence at the interview? Also, about the affidavit of support: do I have to make a certain amount? Will it matter if I have children? And do I need “wet” signatures for the intent to marry documents and evidence? Lastly, What are some ideas for the intent to marry evidence? Thank you guys in advance for all your help !

When I filed for my fiance in October, I did not know that I was going to visit him in December of the same year. When you get through to the interview, though, your fiance will need to provide evidence of a continued relationship - so that trip in February would be helpful then if you file now.

The evidence I used were old plane itineraries, copies of passport stamps, my engagement ring receipt, pictures (he had gotten it on a previous visit), and some Skype conversation logs.

Good luck with all of this!

Thank you so much for responding!! do you think these documents require a wet signature? I’ve lost most of my boarding passes but i still have my passport (stamps)and itinerary and some receipts from when I was there so I hope that counts for something ! I also have my engagement ring receipt and video and call logs !

Hi...

You can go on to file in December, as you have previous pictures and other proof just as @emily29 stated. Your visit will add to recent evidence he will take along for his interview.

For the wet signatures; I have read in some places that it isn't mandatory (I'm not so sure). I had a wet signature for my file.

Intent to marry, is more like two pieces of letter signed by you and your Fiancé that you will marry within the 90-day period upon arrival to US. Check a sample here on V.J or online.

Congrats in advance!👌

I signed my letter of intent and had him sign his just to be safe. I always figured better safe than sorry!

I was in the same spot with lost boarding passes. We'd been together for 9 years at that point, and I had definitely not held every piece of paper! ;) Itineraries worked just fine!

If you're in no rush to file why not wait till Feb and begin assembling your packet together when you visit? It'll add another visit to your supporting evidence and give you plenty of time between now and then to start gathering your documents on both ends.

Nothing worse, I found, than wanting to file and having to wait on someone else to send a replacement document cause we didn't have it on file and then having to redo forms cause they'd outdated thanks to snail mail. You also wouldn't have to worry whether you needed wet signatures as you'd have them either way.
