Yes, you will need the Thai Police Certificate. You need it for the K1 Interview with the BKK US Embassy, this is considered one of the essential documents that you MUST possess to be eligible for the interview. It can take a couple weeks for them to produce when the office is busy. So once you have your Packet 3 letter, you will take it and go to the following address:

The Police Clearance Service Center

Building 24, Royal Thai Police Headquarters

Rama I Road, Pathumwan

Bangkok 10330

Tel: 0-2205-2168-9 Fax: 0-2205-1295

E-mail: pcscenter@royalthaipolice.go.th, pcsc.thaipolice@gmail.com

It will cost a hundred or so THB for the form, with people having mixed experiences on if you can pay "tea money" to have it expedited. My girl tried and was unable to do so, the woman flat denied any attempts.

Great Post Pedro!

Follow up question:

Is the clearance sent to the individual requester in the mail, sent to the embassy or does the requester have to return to pick up the clearance in person?

@AoNang  The Police clearance will be sent via Thai mail to the address you give them.  It can take a few weeks to receive it.  Just make sure that you don't do it too soon.  The Clearance is only valid for 90 days.   If it is older than 90 days when you submit your packet, you will have to do it all over again.

although we haven't received our NoA2 yet, my fiance went to ask about the police clearance. They instructed her that it was 100 baht and on average 3 weeks to 1 month to receive, or pay 1000 baht and get in 1 week.

My fiancee went to apply for the police report. When she went to pay, the female officer told her it was 200 Baht (which is the stated fee) and would take 6 weeks, BUT, for 1500 Baht, she could get it the following week. Since we needed the report earlier than 6 weeks because of her interview date, she paid the extra money. Instead of a payment receipt, the officer gave her personal mobile number and said she would call when it was ready. I assume not issuing a receipt made it easier to hide splitting up the rest of the money with those requiring a cut. But it left us wondering whether we had just got taken for the entire 1500 Baht since we had no proof of payment. A week later, the officer called her and told her it was ready and she picked it up. And one other thing, when she went to apply for the report, the male officer she checked in with, started hitting on her and kept asking her why she wanted to leave Thailand and marry a "farang”. To her annoyance, he was persistent and asked for her phone number. She told him no and tried to ignore him. When my fiancee left the station, she heard him call out to the officer holding her application saying he wanted her phone number. The next day, he tried to add my fiancee on her Line account using the mobile number he stole off her application, so she had to block him. So just a heads up to those needing a police report of the high likelihood that they will work you for the extra money and your fiancee may be harassed by the male officers working there.
