Hi everyone.

I'm a little confused as to whether we need to submit the I-131 form with our AOS package. Do I need this to travel outside of US after temporary green card is issued? How long does it usually take to process AOS and issue temp green card? I don't really need to travel back to Toronto until Christmas this year, so is this something I should fill out so that I can go in and out by then?

If so, I have some questions regarding completing the form:

1. On page 2 of the form (part 3, #1), what should I write for "Date of Intended Departure"?

2. On page 3 (part 7), it asks that I explain on a separate paper how I qualify for an advance parole document and what circumstances warrant issuance of advance parole. I'm so lost.

Thanks in advance for your help!

karlita,

You need to submit an I-131 to return from travel outside the USA prior to becoming an LPR. Why do you call it a "temp green card"? All green cards are "temp" - they all expire.

1. You should write your date of intended departure.

2. You qualify for AP because you have an adjustment of status application pending, the circumstances that justify issuance of an AP document are whatever your reasons are for wanting to travel outside the USA before you become an LPR.
